ISHIN HOTELS GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO SUCCESSFUL b BRAND

"A new face in the heart of Tokyo" is how Ishin Hotels Group
are describing the arrival of their successful "b" brand
to Tokyo`s Akasaka district.
Scheduled to open on November 21st, the b akasaka is a boutique
hotel specifically designed to cater for both the business and leisure
markets.
Previously operating as the Shanpia Hotel Akasaka, Ishin Hotels
Group recognized the potential of the centrally located site and have
totally refurbished and remodeled the building specificallyl to meet
the requirements of their "b" brand properties and today`s
discerning traveler.
The b akasaka General Manager, Takashi Ito, said the building size,
central location and the surrounding Akasaka precinct, with its mix
of business, entertainment and history, made the property a perfect
fit to join the other b hotels within the Ishin Hotels Group`s boutique
b portfolio. Other b hotels in Tokyo include the b roppongi and the
b sangenjaya.
"The main goal for the b akasaka is to provide a relaxing and
comfortable experience for our guests. We endeavor to make them feel
as if they`re at home, even in the middle of Tokyo, whilst they experience
the b`s unique brand concept of Comfortable "b"ed, good "b"reakfast,
and "b"alance in their lives," Mr. Ito said.
"We haven`t just renovated an existing property-the original
hotel was closed, pretty much stripped back to basics and then redesigned
and reworked from the ground up to create a totally fresh new accommodation
experience", he said.
W Design International, designer Ms. Asao Nakayama, who also recently
designed the b roppongi and the KOTORAN SPA in Kyoto for Ishin Hotels
Group, enjoyed the unique challenge that working on the b akasaka
presented. She worked on the interiors with the design team drawing
on aircraft first class cabins and cruise ship interiors for inspiration.
"We really needed to be clever with our usage of space and
whilst we have come up with a very compact, sleek and modern space
for guests, the rooms are still very welcoming and comfortable with
natural light and beautiful timber playing an important factor in
the overall ambience", Ms. Nakayam said.
The successful result is evident with all 156 guest rooms featuring
cutting-edge design, modern furnishings and clean lines as well as
the latest in-room technology. Particular attention was taken during
the design process to the guest bathrooms with space saving, glass
walled shower towers incorporated into every room which was realized
with the innovative partnership with Huppe, a Netherland company,
and Toto of Japan. Whilst very functional, no compromise was made
with guests` comfort.
The attention to detail and care extends to the b akasaka`s public
spaces with both an Italian restaurant and a Day Spa (due for completion
in early 2006) reflecting the clean modern design approach utilized
in the guest rooms. The mini Day Spa will feature 14 treatment rooms
and should prove extremely popular with both leisure and business
guests alike. A peaceful sanctuary for guests seeking to rejuvenate,
revive and refresh after a hectic day of business or touring in Tokyo.
12 out of the 14 treatment rooms are actual guest rooms where in-room
treatments can be enjoyed.
The new b akasaka is easily accessible from the Akasaka TBS and
will additionally benefit from urban renewal projects scheduled to
commence in 2008.
